School-Wide Fundraiser Update
The CMS PTO Fundraiser is well behind last year's sales total and we need your help! Tuesday 9/27 is the final day for the fundraiser.
The Indianapolis "Save Around" Coupon Book costs $25 and contains thousands of dollars in potential savings. One trip to Dicks Sporting Goods or going out to eat at a couple of places you might normally dine and the book would pay for itself! The coupons in the book are valid until December 31, 2017. Please consider buying the book that your child went home with and perhaps share it with friends and family to boost our sales!
All money and any unsold books need to be turned in no later than Tuesday 9/27. Thank you to all who have already supported this fundraiser. Enjoy saving money with your coupon book!
Contact any CMS student or call us at 539-9285 if you have any questions or are interested in buying a book or two!
Coursera is a for-profit education technology company who began partnering with universities such as Duke, Stanford, Penn, and Michigan to offer online course content to people all over the world back in 2013. Today, Coursera offers thousands of courses from approximately 135 universities from 26 different countries.
Courses available range from MBA graduate courses to personal development courses on things like "how to build a resume" and hundreds of personal interest courses such as "The History or Rock and Roll" or introductions to various foreign languages. Courses can be audited which make all of the course content, videos, and materials available to students for FREE!
In the spirit of making learning irresistible, our Accel teachers are going to help students search for and enroll in courses that are of interest to our students. About 25% of the content available is academically appropriate for all middle school students. Some of the content gets pretty intense and may be over the heads of a typical adolescent. Nonetheless, there really is something available for everyone!
Families are encouraged to check out Coursera at coursera.org and engage in learning something new!
End of the Nine Weeks
The First Nine Weeks is over on Friday 9/30/16! Students and parents are encouraged to stay on top of their grades and be sure to complete any and all late assignments because our teachers will give at least partial credit for all work submitted before the end of the grading period.

"College Go Week!"
College Go Week is an event designed to help get kids thinking about college and all of the steps necessary to get there! Many colleges waive their application fees for students during that week and events are held in high schools promoting awareness across the state.
CMS will be participating in the district-wide dress up days for the week. All school dress code rules will be maintained. The dress up days are as follows...
Indiana Pearson Perspective
Pearson Perspective is a new resource made available to schools and families from the ISTEP test publisher, Pearson. Each Indiana student was issued a "code" based on their 2016 ISTEP language arts and math scores. That code corresponds with their score and generates a list of resources that will help address the grade level standards and assigns individualized content to each student based on how the student performed on ISTEP.
Accel and Math T2 teachers will begin addressing some of the resources with students in class next week. Familes will receive their child's individual codes within the next couple of weeks and are encouraged to work through the resources with their child.
For a sample of what these resources might look like, log on to indiana.pearsonperspective.com and enter one of the following sample "codes"; R501, M5243, R782, M7001
Assignment Sheets Available Mondays
