FALL BREAK WEEK!!
CMS Excellence Convocation!
On Friday, October 13th Cascade Middle School paused from our regular school day to recognize a number of students for outstanding achievement or outstanding contributions to the culture at CMS during the first quarter of the school year. We also took a moment to celebrate a few school successes from the first quarter of the 2017-2018 school year. Check out the Google Slide show linked HERE and you'll see what we mean! Congratulations and THANK YOU to our students who help make CMS great every day!
We have much to be proud of and will be looking forward to our next Excellence convocation in early January!
Parenting a Successful Child at CMS
This is week 8 of our 10 weeks series on how parents can help their children successfully navigate their experience at Cascade Middle School. Previous tips shared include...
This week's tip is to monitor your child's interpersonal relationships. Understand that adolescent friendships can run "hot" and "cold" from day-to-day. Talk with your children about what it means to be a good friend. Get to know the parents of your child's friends. And, recognize the difference between "bullying" and "situational rudeness".
By TRUSTING these things we believe that there will be nothing that we can't work through together! Let's just know that we are all on the same page and will be until the day your child leaves CMS!
Cascade Cafe Grand Opening!
The Cascade Cafe and Smoothie Shop will open in the CMS Learning Hub on November 1st!
Home Learning / Parent Conferences
We'd like to thank the almost 100 families who took time to visit with our teachers during last Monday's Parent/Teacher Conference Day. If you ever have a need to meet with our teachers, there is no need to wait for a day like this past Monday. Call or email any time and we will be glad to set up a meeting. It's always a good time to work together with parents in order to ensure student success!
We also want to thank all of the parents who supported our Home Learning Day which was indeed a unique day of school for all of us. By the time you receive this newsletter, all assignments issued on Monday will be considered over-due.
The Mill Creek Community School Corporation will be hosted another Home Learning Day and Parent/Teacher Conference Day on the same corresponding date in 2018. That is why parent feedback is important to us. Parents are encouraged to complete THIS SURVEY which will help us make this day more efficient and productive next year!
CMS Spell Bowl News
Congratulations to the CMS Spell Bowl Team who finished 3rd out of the 5 schools competing in their first invitational of the year hosted in Martinsville this past week. They will be in action again at the Area Competition in Plainfield in two weeks.
A special shoutout to Alyssa Burnett who had one of just two perfect rounds scored by all spellers on the night!
Good luck to our Spell Bowlers in their remaining competitions!
Math Problem of the Week
Congratulations to Caven Beaty, Liam Farmer, Garrett Hicks, Ellie Thompson, and Amanda Fulcher who correctly answered all parts of the school Math Problem of the Week! This is the most number of correct responses we've had!
There will be no Problem of the Week next week as it is Fall Break. Winners from this week's question will be revealed on Monday, October 23rd when the next question is posted.
